ABOUT MARK NICHOLLS

Thank you for visiting. I hope you have enjoyed looking at the images on this site as much as I've enjoyed making them.

I'm guessing you've clicked here to learn a bit about me, and the best way to do this is to get in touch, but if you aren't quite there yet, here is the headline information regarding your's truly.

My Approach to Wedding Photography & Film Making

Lets get business out of the way first shall we, then if you're still intrigued, there's some personal info below :-D

For the last 10 years, I've had the privilege, (and I don't use that word frivolously because it genuinely is an immense privilege to do what I do) of capturing countless weddings across the UK, working with some truly wonderful clients and other wedding businesses. During that time, I've been able to build a lot of experience and evolve as a photographer, film maker and editor, but my approach has largely remained the same - combining the best elements of traditional wedding photography with modern documentary wedding photography to always create timeless images that will always look fantastic. On the day my goal is to be relaxed, unobtrusive, fun & an expert that you can rely on during the whole day

Capturing the day unfold

I will spend the majority of the day, simply capturing what's happening in front of me, especially during the ceremony, speeches and my favourite part - just after the ceremony. I will also aim to give a good many images of your guests enjoying themselves, totally unaware that I'm even there, and even a few requests from guests who ask me to take their picture. Always happy to oblige.

I love the natural and candid images, because these contain the most emotion, natural reactions and sense of occasion. You'll love these images too. You'll scroll through them regularly in your gallery, and some go them will even be used in an album should you wish to have one made.

There is then the second piece to the wedding photography experience - Portraits!

Family Photos

An essential part of every wedding day, and I can say that I've never captured a wedding without at least getting the 'essential' shots (Parents, sibs, bridesmaids etc). This is the only time that you'll really feel my presence on the day and be asked to "smile and look at the camera". The great news, is that I'll help you curate a list of essential photos so that this portion of the day doesn't get out of hand, and I'll make it quick and fun! After all, and I know this from experience - more family photos = less drinks and canap├ęs for you! LOL

Couple Portraits/Romantic Shots

This part of the day is my absolute favourite! Just the 2 of you, away from hustle and bustle and my aim is to spend 15-30 minutes capturing you being you. No awkward poses, just genuine interaction. Within minutes, I can make even the most camera shy couples forget that I'm even there. My aim is to set the scene, then let the moments happen naturally.

These photos are often done after dinner (a few mg/ml of alcohol from dinner often helps), though depending on the weather forecast and time of year, we often like to at least get a few shots in the bag before dinner. Also, with your blessing, if the sunset is during dinner, many couples choose to pop out for 5 mins between courses to make the most of the 'golden hour'. I will however, leave that option to the client.

I'm incredibly honoured you've taken the time to get to know me, and if you like what you've heard so far, please drop me a line.
