Wedding Photography at Hensol Castle

Another South Wales wedding image at Hensol Castle near Cardiff.

Did I mention on another image about quality of light over quantity of light? Well this image just perfectly illustrates what I'm talking about. For me, this light is nothing short of delicious, and I would happily debate and argue with anyone over why a flash would have absolutely destroyed this image. I'm sure you'll agree that it is extremely flattering on the face, and just look at the detail in the dress caused by the shadows.

We had already taken some great pictures down by the lake on the Jetty. This area is a bit of a must do if you're shooting at this venue. It was cloudy, but there is still plenty of direction and quality in the natural lighting to make a flattering and compelling portrait. The biggest issue at this time of the year is the cold. It was around six degrees outside, which whilst isn't that cold, it is when your wearing a dress. I usually, tongue in cheek, suggest some alcohol before going outside to warm the cockles. Many brides actually take this advice.

I managed to squeeze this image in just before the couple went in for their wedding breakfast. It was December, it was 3:30 PM and there really wasn't much light coming through that window at all. In fact, I owe this image to the wonders of modern camera sensors that can give me a clean image at ISO10,000. I can safely say that I often use my equipment to its limits.

When the brides dress looks this good, it would have been a total shame to not get a picture like this. We also brought in the groom for some pictures using this window as well, which were also lovely.
